Dakshin Kali Temple, Mahuligarh, Gidhaur

Known as the land of religion, spirituality and knowledge, the traditions and customs of the Chandela dynasty of Giddhaur have a different history of their own. The temple of Dakshin Kali Maa, established in Mahuligarh, situated at a distance of about 1.5 km from Lord Minto Tower Chowk, the residence of Kumar Ranbir Singh, the middle nephew of Maharaja Giddaur, scattered in these history blocks, is still the center of faith and belief for the people of Giddhaur and Mahuligarh. Local people also know it as Mashan Kali.

According to the information received, this temple was established in the year 1920 by the Rajguru Tantrik Lalitanand Brahmachari of the Gidhaur royal family. This temple was built in the Mahuligarh complex in 1920, by Dixit Kumar Ranbir Singh, an expert in Tantric science. The idol of the precious mother Kali and Mahakal Bhairav, made of Ashtadhatu, has been consecrated with complete tantric method by the Rajguru Tantrik Lalitanand Brahmachari (Tarapith) of the Giddhaur royal family.

According to the documents of the royal family, the heirs of this temple used to be those who used to be initiated in Tantra Vidya. Rajguru Lalitanand Brahmachari had also initiated the late Maharaja Chandryoleshwari Singh and his nephews Kumar Ranbir Singh, Kumar Digvijay Singh, Kumar Chandrashekhar Singh and Kumar Shailesh Singh of Mahuligarh in Tantra Vidya. People believe that, in this temple of Dakshina Kali, whoever seeks a vow with devotion, it is definitely fulfilled. According to Kripa Kumar Singh of Mahuligarh royal family, Kumar Ranbir Singh was the first official of this temple. He used to offer meat and liquor regularly by worshiping according to the Tantric method in Maa Mashan Kali temple every day. He told that even today special puja is organized on the ninth day of Akshaya Tritiya Durga Puja.

On this occasion, Mahabhog of meat and liquor is also offered in front of Dakshin Kali. Hundreds of people throng to get this Mahaprasad. He told that after the death of Kumar Shailendra Singh (Babban ji), the last successor initiated in Tantra Vidya, worship is being done every day in this temple by a general pundit, and now rice, pulses and vegetables are offered in front of Mashan Kali. It is applied every day. But every year, on the occasion of special worship, the pandit of Deoghar, who is knowledgeable in Tantra Vidya, worships Mashan Kali with a pure tantra system and offers Panchamkar.

It is the belief of the people that even today a huge snake visits this temple every day to see the mother and after the arrival of the priest, he suddenly disappears after leaving the temple. Many elders of Mahuligarh village also told that many people have seen this huge snake, but due to its sudden disappearance, the people of Mahuligarh have called it the glory of Mashan Kali.
