Mata Sthan, also one of the oldest of the city, is located at a distance of 4 kilometers from the city in Chunapur. This village is situated on the bank of ‘Kari Koshi’ a tributary of Kosi River. Chunapur is a very old village situated 4 km west of Purnea.
The village came into limelight when the government of India constructed a huge aerodrome for strategic purposes known as Chunapur Aerodrome. It is also famous for the oldest temple of Mata Asthan .
