Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) is located in the heart of Bhagalpur. It is 25ft high Clock Tower made in British Time. Around it there is market place of the old city.

The historic Ghanta Ghar Clock Tower was built during the British Rule in dedication to the King Edward VII of Britain. Situated in the heart of Bhagalpur, it is like the centre of the city and all of Bhagalpur is easily accessible from this site. It is situated in the centre of a chowk, often referred to as Clock Tower Chowk because of the monument, which is one of the busiest roads in the city. The city of Bhagalpur itself has major historical and mythological significance. The name Bhagalpur is derived from Bhagdatpuram which means the city of good luck. The city is world renowned for its silk work and is often called ‘The Silk City’.
