Burhanath Mandir is situated on the banks of the Uttarvahini Ganga in Jogsar Mohallah, Adampur, Bhagalpur. spread over three acres. Being one of the oldest temple in the region it witnesses influx of devotees throughout the year. 

It is adorned by statues dating back to 1937. According to the Shiva Purana, Baba Bal Vridheshwarnath or Budhanath is one of the 108 Nath in India. Also, this name has been stated in the first segment of the eighth segments of  Shiva Purana . The lingam of this place of worship is self-incarnated nevertheless as to when it come into being is still unknown. It is said that Lord Rama’s guru, Vashishtha Muni prayed here. Idol of Ma Bhavani can be seen beside the Shivalinga. As per legend the idol of Ma Bhavani is actually that of Ma Chandi of Munger, that travelled from Munger through the Ganga river and banked near the Budhanath temple. One day the goddess came in the dreams of a man there on the premises. He found and placed her on the campus of Budhanath temple.

One must visit The Burhanath Mandir to worship the revered deities like Goddess Durga, Radha-Krishna, Lord Hanuman and so many others. It is a perfect destination for a great time with the family and the dear ones. The ambience in and around the temple is sacred and sanctifying. The temple acts as an oasis of peace and spirituality and the view of the holy river Ganga is majestic and seeing it is a blissful experience.

How To Reach There

Bhagalpur Junction railway station is situated at a distance of 1. 9 km and the driving time is 12 mins. One can easily find autos and rickshaws to reach the mandir from anywhere in the city.

Best Time To Visit

Timing: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM

It is suggested to visit the Burhanath Mandir around 5 PM in the evening, during the sunset when the calm weather coupled with the sanctifying presence of the deities render the Mandir as a peace retreating centre.

People ideally spend 1 – 2 hours at The Burhanath Mandir offering prayers to the revered deities, seeking the blessings of the Lord and enjoying the holy chants.
