Baba Tilka Manjhi is a national hero. Tilka Manjhi also popularly known as “Jabra Paharia”. He was first Santal leader who took up the arms and raised his voice against English fought with them in the 1784’s, around 100 years before Mangal Pandey. So no doubt he was first freedom fighter of India. He made this movement a mass movement and circulated message written on leaf of Sal that “We must be united.” . He rose in rebellion against the misrule of the East India Company and shot dead the first collector of Bhagalpur Augustus Cleveland with bow and arrow from the top of banyan tree.The British surrounded the Tilapore forest from which he operated but he and his men held them at bay for several weeks.

This is a very famous dargah in Bhagalpur. This dargah is situated i Barari area of Bhagalpur on the bank of river Ganga.

भागलपुर संग्रहालय (Bhagalpur Museum)

Bhagalpur Museum is one of the most prestigious tourist attractions in the city of Bhagalpur. Located at Kachari Chowk, it is situated at a distance of mere 1. 8 km from Bhagalpur, besides Burha Nath temple.

Bateshwar Nath Temple - Bhadeshwar Nath Mandir is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located atop a hillock near Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The temple is around 7 km from Kahalgaon. One has to climb more than 100 rock cut uneven stairs to reach the shrine. Bateshwar Nath temple is on the banks of Ganga River. The place is highly auspicious because River Ganga flows northward here.

Atop the hill, one first has the sight of a huge murti of Nandi. There are eleven Shivlings in the shrine. Therefore the temple is also known as Ekadash Mahadev Baba Hadishwar.

The temple is unique for the presence of Goddess Parvati with Shiva. One of the Shivling is in Arhanarishwara form.

There are three caves atop the hill. The eleven Shivling are found in one of the caves.

Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary is located in Bhagalpur District of Bihar, India. The sanctuary is a 50 km stretch of the Ganges River from Sultanganj to Kahalgaon. Designated in 1991, it is the only protected area for the endangered Gangetic dolphins in Asia. Once found in abundance, only a few hundred remain, of which half are found here.

The Gangetic dolphins have been declared as the National Aquatic Animal of India. This decision was taken in the first meeting of the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) chaired by Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh on Monday, 5 October 2009.

The Bihar government took the decision in the wake of the killings of four of the Dolphin to appoint 20 dolphin ‘mitras’ in villages between Sultanganj and Kahalgaon to create awareness to save dolphins in the sanctuary.
